The FFt is not cool. $20 write off. The IAnalizer paid app works really well. You'll laugh but I can harmonic sing. Use the soft pallate of the roof of my mouth to create sympathetics on top of my primary tone. I went into the small bathroom and sang into the phone and it registered my primary tone and 5 other clear and consistant harmonic peaks through the recording for the sympathetics.

Unlike the FFT app it records a section of time and you can roll back on the recording and touch point select the peaks. Super cool and beyond easy. I'm not sure what the "lite app" gives you but the pay app is perfect for now... Until something better comes out...!!!

Did that fly fall off the wall and roll on the floor while you were singing into your phone, in the bathroom?

The lite app let's you record a ten second sample, go back and forth to a particular event and it shows the various freqs in db, hertz, note name with +\- cents. I tested it out against tuned guitar strings and it was able to accurately determine the freqs. You can rotate and get a different view of the graph as well. I'm not sure what the paid app does that the lite doesn't.
Todd, just for certainty's sake, are you referring to the Studio Six FFT as being a write off, and giving the iAnalyzer a for reals thumbs up?

Went to Willies and the Podium yesterday. Recorded a 1930 OM 18 and a 1934 OOO 28. I've got my data just on the phone, in 15 seconds.

So, you got taps on those? Muted strings and top and back taps and box taps?
I bought the gizmo over the weekend, but have been too sick to try it out. I have a back that's ready to do...

Hey Haans,

Yeah, just grabbed the neck of the finished guitar with my left hand, light pressure on the strings to mute not hold, and tapped with my right hand middle finger just under the bridge.

Saw one of your guitars at the podium. Told my apprentice that you laminated your back braces cuz you saw me doing it. The sales guy who doesn't know me tried to say that everyones been laminating their back braces for a while now and then he mentioned McPhearson. I told him "Haans is classier then MCPhearson, he got it from me."

So if you go in and the quiet guy with glasses, who I'd never seen before, or Jeff mention that some guy was claiming to have inspired your work, and was all sassy about it. It was me. Lol!

Todd,
Did you buy the full app? If so, does it let you save more than one sample? The lite app makes you erase your last sample to record a new one.

Yeah I have the full app, $20 ain't no big deal plus I can write it off as a shop tool and it looks like there's room for 10 recordings. I have yet to sync my phone and put the recordings on my computer but for now I'm just learning as I go.

That's cool. I don't mind kicking out 20$ for something that actually works...

Yeah I can change the range of view shown in my settings, but I'm not sure what your asking for. All I know so far is I can move things to see the range I need/ want very easily. And you cant change names in the app but you can Download them to your computer through wifi and rename them at that point. I just made sure to announce my subjects on the recording instead of just tapping and moving on to the next guitar.

In the bottom of the file screen is an IP address. All you have to do is type that number address in your browser instead of http://www.blahblahblah12434 and you'll be able download the .wav files from there, and even save the current FFT screen to your computer by right clicking and saving as... If you want another screen you just move the recording until the screen shows what you want and then refresh the IP address page and your set.

Here's the 1934 OOO 28

http://phyar.cn/
http://itunes.apple.com/app/ianalyzer/id335449113?mt=8

Both are useless, but the app works. gaah
